I am 52 and have a Mowing/Lanscaping business. I will always get cramps from the rigorous work. I counter this with the usual fluid and salt intake as well as having a course of magnesium when they get worse or when my nerves get a bit touchy. My most painful cramps {which nearly make me pass out} are firstly in the back of the thigh {which is quite a normal cramp} and one I call a grenade cramp, which feels like it is isolated inside a 50 cent peice size area in the top of my calf and goes off like a bomb. One was so bad one night it actually re-tore an old tear. The last and most recent type of cramp I have been getting {in winter} is one I call the twister, and it is by far the worst and one I have only just started getting. It happens on the inner thigh where the bottom part of the muscle twists one way and the top part twists the other. The only thing that sometimes helps to get rid of the crazy!!! pain is rubbing deep heat in and drinking a glass of hot water. Both legs went off last night and I wanted to put a fork in my eye to counter the pain.
Are most cramps associated with low magnesium, salt and calcium or can they be connected to separate health issues and is this last cramp a rare one.
